We have a number of services and clinics available at our practice with all members of our team. In order to attend an appointment, please ring the reception or follow any details provided with the clinic information.
List of Services and Clinics
Doctors: There are three General Practitioners and one Nurse Practitioner at the practice. We have a range of appointments available which can be booked in advance however many of our appointments are “book on the day” only. We introduced this system to allow patients to be seen at the onset of their problems and to decrease the quantity of wasted appointments due to non attendance. If you need to see a doctor urgently and are unable to get an appointment we can now book you directly into one of the GP hubs. The hub appointments are staffed by local GPs run 7 days per week.
Practice Nurses & Healthcare Assistant: Our nurses and HCA are available (by appointment only) for health advice, blood tests, blood pressure, dressings, suture removal, smear tests, immunisations, ECG’s, 24hr Blood Pressure monitoring and travel vaccinations.
Our Practice Nurses also lead chronic disease management clinics for Long Term Conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, COPD, Heart disease & stroke.
We actively support the Year of Care approach to management of Long Term Conditions (LTC). This involves patients attending for a full review of all LTC’s they may suffer from at the one appointment with our Practice Nurses following their blood tests with the HCA.
If you are going on holiday and think you may need travel vaccination before hand can you please complete the travel health questionnaire below. Once completed please email the form back to the practice. Ideally travel vaccinations should be given a minimum 6-8 weeks before you start your holiday. Vaccines available for free on the NHS include tetanus, Hepatitis A & Typhoid. All other vaccines are only available via private clinics and charges will be applied. Once your form has been received we will be in touch within 7 days letting you know what vaccines are needed.
For general advice on travelling abroad please visit the NATHNAC website https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/
Antenatal Care: Our midwife has a clinic at the practice once per week on a Tuesday afternoon. If you are planning a family and think you may be pregnant please ask at reception for a urine sample bottle and we will send it away for testing. If the result is positive we can refer you directly to the midwife who will get in touch with you by phone.
Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy is available on a self referral basis – please ask at reception for the relevant form or access below. You will need to know your NHS number so please ring us if needed.
Long Acting Contraception: Dr Tut is a qualified coil fitter and has appointments on a Monday for any lady wishing to have a coil fitted. Dr Andrews is a qualified implant fitter and has appointments available on a Wednesday. These appointments can only be booked after a consultation (face to face or via telephone) with Dr Tut or Dr Andrews.
Community Mental Health Nurses: This service is also available via referral from your doctor. The CPN will provide support and counselling for a rang of issues including bereavement, anxiety and depression.
Well Baby Clinic: Following delivery of your baby and the practice receives the notification from the hospital you will receive a letter confirming the dates of the 8 week baby check with Dr Roberts and first baby immunisations. If you have not received your baby’s appointment within 6 weeks of the birth please give us a ring at the surgery. The Health Visiting Service no longer holds a clinic at the practice so we politely request that you attend one of their outreach clinics the week before attending for your check with the GP. For details please contact reception.
District Nurses: The District Nurses provide care in the home for patients who are housebound only. This service is only available through referral from a GP or the hospital. If you are already under the care of the District Nurses and need to get in touch with them please ring 0191 445 5114
Minor Surgery: Dr Roberts & Dr Tut perform minor surgery at the practice in particular joint injections for pain etc. Please make an appointment with a GP or nurse for referral.
Home Visits: The doctor will visit patients at home who are housebound or terminally ill. If you require a visit please telephone the practice before 10am if possible.
Results: Please contact the practice after 2pm on the day your results are expected. This is to allow the doctor time to review and comment on all results returning from the laboratory. As a rule blood results are available 3-5 working days after specimens taken and X-Rays are 7-10 working days. Results from scans ordered by hospital consultants (such as CT & MRI) are available from the consultant who ordered the test, the result does not get sent to the GP so we will be unable to tell you the report.
Prescriptions: Please give 48 hours notice when ordering repeat prescriptions. Medications which are not regular may take longer to process. Where possible please ring after 10.30am to order prescriptions, as telephone lines are busy with appointments first thing. We are encouraging all our patients to sign up to electronic prescribing. This system is much quicker and a safer way for prescriptions to be issued as we can send them directly to the chemist electronically.
